Pasta Art! (KPN)

Children have a lot of inherent creativity and bubbling curiosity that’s just waiting to be unleashed. Most parents view this inquisitiveness and youthful imaginativeness as a destructive quality, something that should be curbed so that children can concentrate on activities that may yield greater returns such as their academic studies.
Scientific research has however proved that taking part in hands-on activities with daily materials and items can help children solve real life problems with ingenuity and ease. This is an asset children can grow up to nurture and can carry with them for the rest of their lives as it is applicable to both personal and professional circumstances. Parents can also take part in the creative learning journey of their children which is a great way to form a bond with your child and instill in them the importance of growth and diligence.
Pasta Art has steadily grown in popularity as a creative art activity for children that can help them think outside the box. Pasta is readily available and there’s so much one can do with Pasta (besides cooking it). Here are some ideas for Pasta Art that you and your child will love taking part in!

1. Pasta Pics
Materials: Spaghetti noodles, Cooking oil, Construction paper, Butter knife, Waxed paper.

Instructions: Toss some pasta into hot boiling water. Add some oil to keep it from sticking. Cook until the pasta is soft, drain the water and rinse the remaining pasta with cold water.
Shape the pasta into different artistic flowers and faces or even scenic landscapes. Children can cut the spaghetti with a butter knife before pressing it onto the page.
To keep a favorite picture, cover it with waxed paper and top with a heavy book so that it will dry flat. The pasta will adhere even after it hardens.
Tip: Add a bit of food coloring to the boiling water for bright colored noodles.

2. Pasta Necklace
MaterialsMacaroni or Ziti noodles, Food coloring or Color dye, Plastic bag, Paper towel and a String.

Instructions: Dye a few pieces of macaroni or ziti noodles by mixing a few tablespoons of food coloring or rubbing alcohol with different colored dyes. Place the uncooked noodles into a plastic bag and tie the bag tightly and shake it until all the noodles are colored. Take the dyed noodles out and place them on a paper towel to dry. Once the noodles are dry and died, string them alternating with different colorful pieces. Tie the string at the ends to finish off the pasta jewelry.

Fruit Fun! (KPN)

A child's body requires food that’s healthy and nutritious for their mental and physical development. Children spend much of their day playing and learning hence, both activities require energy and vitality that can only be gotten from wholesome food. But children can be quite fussy about what they want to and don’t want to eat and it’s especially hard to convince them to eat fruits. Unfortunately, kids don’t always enjoy food that’s good for them. But parents can use imaginative ways to make fruit look more appealing to kids. A little creativity can go a long way to intrigue and excite children and have them take more interest in healthier food items.
Fruits contain a lot of benefits and should be eaten regularly. Many fruits such as strawberries, blackberries and grapes contain Vitamin C which is important for the growth and repair of body tissues, which attacks potentially harmful free radicals in the body and neutralizes them. There are ways that you can get your children to eat fruit and have them regard fruit as exciting and fun!
